Traffic Improvements Around Schools in Abu Dhabi Mainland

Description

Tatweer will focus on elevating safety standards for pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles by enhancing infrastructure in 13 schools located in South Al Shamkha, Al Falah, and Al Shahama and 10 schools in South Baniyas and Al Bahia. The aim is to address traffic and parking congestion resulting from student movement. Tatweer will establish designated parking and drop-off zones for buses, parents, and staff, conducting a comprehensive examination of traffic safety concerns in specific areas of Abu Dhabi Island.

Main Scope

The project's scope includes consultancy services for designing the following:

1. Drop-off zones for buses.
2. School bus parking areas, considering their operational routines and available space.
3. Car drop-off zones.
4. Car parking areas, considering available space.
5. Cycle tracks, racks, and pedestrian paths with connections to existing infrastructure.
6. Pedestrian crossing areas, taking into consideration car and bus zones and traffic flow.
7. Developing a traffic plan and potentially implementing a one-way traffic system.
